Children's Health in Calgary: Pediatric Care, Immunizations & Common Concerns
Few things are more stressful than wondering if your child needs to see a doctor. Is this fever serious? Is this rash normal? Should I just keep them home from school?
At Omega Medical Clinic, our family physicians provide comprehensive pediatric care for newborns through teenagers — both as walk-in visits when you need answers fast, and as ongoing care for families who want a long-term doctor for their kids.
The Alberta Immunization Schedule
Alberta provides free routine immunizations for all children. Here's the schedule every Calgary parent should know:
| Age | Vaccines |
|---|---|
| 2 months | DTaP-IPV-Hib, Pneumococcal, Rotavirus |
| 4 months | DTaP-IPV-Hib, Pneumococcal, Rotavirus |
| 6 months | DTaP-IPV-Hib, Pneumococcal, Rotavirus, Influenza (yearly) |
| 12 months | MMR, Varicella, Meningococcal C, Pneumococcal |
| 18 months | DTaP-IPV-Hib, MMRV |
| 4–6 years | DTaP-IPV, MMRV |
| Grade 6 | HPV, Hepatitis B, Meningococcal |
| Grade 9 | Tdap |
Most of these are administered through Alberta Health Services Public Health clinics, but we can review your child's immunization record at any visit, advise on catch-up schedules, and provide travel vaccines.
